Introduction & Background

NASA scientific mission data are valuable resources that need to be preserved for the benefit of future generations. Dataset Preservation means to retain and provide easy access to the background information and knowledge used to create the data being preserved.

GHRC DAAC Scientist Deborah Smith has compiled the preservation information for all datasets from the MEaSUREs project Distributed Information Services for Climate and Ocean Products and Visualizations for Earth Research (DISCOVER), as specified in the NASA Earth Science Data Preservation Content Specification. A checklist with links to these documents will be posted on the GHRC web site in future.

The GHRC DAAC has published dataset revisions for two merged satellite products from the DISCOVER MEaSUREs project:
