DAWN READY TO FLY
Sunday, September 12, 2010
DAWN worked well on 9/12/10 flight. During flight the air flow in the cargo level was removed from DAWN. The laser then needed less adjustments. The laser is pumped by laser diode arrays. The power supplies for the laser diode arrays continue to fault and stop operating occasionally during flight. This causes a few minutes of lost data.
The DAWN PI finally got earlier recorded DAWN data to agree with dropsonde winds. The equation is now understood. The DAWN software lead is coming to FLL this week and will install this equation in the main program.
DAWN will stay yellow until we provide winds for others to look at during flight.
