GRIP & Tri-Agency Mission Scientist Report
NASA GRIP Mission Scientist Report – August 13, 2010
J. Halverson, S. Braun, E. Zipser – GRIP Mission Scientists
There are presently no meteorological targets of interest for tri-agency operations in the next 24 hours. The Global Hawk is still in integration and test mode, the DC8 is scheduled to arrive in FLL at 21 Z today, and the WB57 will not be operational until August 25.
GRIP has begun initial planning for a Global Hawk test flight over GOMEX in the 17-18 August timeframe, mission duration TBD, to exercise the COA. TD5’s potential re-emergence off the Gulf Coast in the 72-84 hr timeframe may offer a target of scientific interest, both for the Global Hawk and the DC8.
NOAA – no planned operations for the next 48 hours.
NSF – possible test flight on August 15, 10 UTC takeoff for nominal 6 hr mission, scientific target TBD – perhaps a stalled frontal boundary just southeast of Florida.
