Global Hawk Report

  • Aircraft – green
    • Xchat group #GHOPS has been created.
    • Communicate instructions to Dryden pilots / navigator.  Paul/Michele action.
    • Future flights: file a radius to work, for FAA coordination.
    • Plane ready
  • Droposonde – red
    • Re-fly of Low Altitude test flight and high altitude flights in one day. Must be a weekday and have a chase plane.
    • A Wednesday 9/8 flight could jeopardize testing of dropsonde. Would have to be a Tuesday evening takeoff (6-7 pm PDT).
    • Possible solenoid issues
    • Need more resources to work on installation - at NCAR
    • Will not be able to fly till Friday 9/10/2010 – both flights can be done in one day
    • Machining new parts in Boulder.
    • Status will be provided Tuesday 9/7/2010
  • HAMSR – green.
  • LIP - green
  • HIWRAP – yellow
    • Some noise in 2-channels in the Ka band

WB-57 Report

  • Aircraft - red
    • May not be available until after 9/7/10
    • Awaiting repair of canopy seal pump
    • Will work repair of three parts Tuesday morning
  • HIRAD - green
    • Would like to acquire Gaston in later part of week from MacDill
  • NAST-I still delayed – may make it for last week of mission.

DC8 Report

  • Aircraft– green.
    • Ferry flight to St. Croix at 18 UTC.
    • Missions to Gaston Monday and Tuesday (extensive as possible consistent with return to FLL)
  • LASE – green.
    • Lase will operate on transit. Permission granted.
  • LARGE – green.
  • APR2 – green.
    • Network problem may have been fixed that caused delays in the real-time display. No effect on the instrument or data.
  • DAWN – yellow.
    •  Finishing up maintenance tomorrow. Processing algorithm issue.
  • Microphysics – green
    • PIP Probes calibrated yesterday and ready to go.
    • CSI cannot fly for the duration of GRIP
  • MMS – green.
  • Dropsonde – green. 
    • Used considerably more than half, need to be more conservative. No more than 20 per flight for remainder of mission. Allow other aircraft to cover other regions e.g. GIV.
    • Pessimistic Vaisala can deliver more dropsondes in time. Perhaps acquire from NOAA (check compatibility).

Science

System in Gulf is currently not promising, and difficult to reach.

Mission Monday, Tuesday to whatever Gaston has become.
