Mission Synopsis for Sept. 10, 2010
The system of interest for the next 3 days (possibly more) is PGI44/AL92
NOAA/IFEX:
No flights planned Saturday.
The NOAA G-IV will takeoff Sunday 9/12 at 1730 UTC from Tampa, fly PGI44/AL92
and recover in St. Croix.
NOAA has a tentative plan to fly one P-3 (N42) from Tampa departing 8
UTC on Monday, conduct a mission into AL92/PGI44,
There would be a mission by the other P-3 (N43) into AL92, take off at
20 UTC Monday from Tampa. That would be concurrent with the G-IV.
Further missions later Monday and Tuesday from St. Croix are possible.
NASA/GRIP:
NASA plans a DC-8 departure from Ft. Lauderdale at 18 UTC Sunday 12
Sept. to target AL92. A follow-on mission into AL92 is possible on Monday.
The Global Hawk is planning a 24-hour flight into AL92 departing Sunday
at 1130 UTC. There will be an estimated 5 h on-station with no dropsondes.
NSF/PREDICT:
The G-V will fly AL92 tomorrow (Saturday) departing at 1630 UTC for a
6-hour mission into AL92. Another mission is planned for Sunday, takeoff
11 UTC. Additional flights for Monday and beyond will be considered over
the next two days.
AIR FORCE:
The Air Force has a mission planned for Sunday Sept. 12 to do a position
fix on AL92 at 18 UTC.
