22Sep2010 Tri-Agency Mission Scientist Report
Mission science summary for September 22, 2010
IFEX
The G-IV is tasked for a mission on September 23 with a take-off from Tampa at 1730UTC. The flight will return to Tampa, with a possible follow-on mission planned for Friday at the same time. Possible P-3 flights into PGI46L/AL95 could begin by Saturday, September 24 at the earliest, but that is dependent on the projected track of the system, its proximity to Tampa, and the likelihood it will track into the northwest Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. A P-3 mission is planned for Friday to survey the ocean environment in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico and northwestern Caribbean in case PGI46L/AL95 does track there.
GRIP
The DC-8 completed its last science mission of GRIP, flying a mission into PGI46L/AL95 with a takeoff from STX at 16Z and returning to FLL.
The GH has planned a mission into PGI46L/AL95 on September 23, take-off 15Z for a 26-h flight.
WB-57 has no plans to fly in the next 48 h, but may deploy to Tampa for possible missions into PGI46L/AL95 beginning Saturday, range permitting.
PREDICT
The G-V completed a mission into PGI46L/AL95 today. No missions are planned for Sept. 23, but a mission into this system is possible on Sept. 24.
AIR FORCE
The Air Force has 18Z and 06Z fix responsibilities planned for Sept. 23-24 for PGI46L/AL95.
